What is the Meaning of Codes Used in EICR Report

The EICR helps to identify electrical problems and fix it quickly. However, there are also certain classification codes, which are used in the EICR report. Such codes have their own purpose and meaning to convey and here they are:

1. Code 1 – (C 1): This code acknowledges the possible dangers in electrical installations, and which need to be fixed first. In order to neutralize such hazards the person obtaining the report will have to react immediately.
2. Code 2 – (C1): This implies any hazards observed during the inspection, however, they are not dangerous at that point of time, yet need to be fixed soon as possible to avoid any potential dangers over the days.
3. Code 3- (C3): This indicates any deficiency observed in the electrical wiring or installation and that may cause any immediate danger. However, by making improvements in the wiring system, the safety of electrical installations can be extended for years.

In addition to these codes, F1 – which is Further Investigation required is also used to indicate the need for inspections of electrical safety.
